Letter of Application (June 17 Assignment)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express an interest in the position you are offering so I woul like to apply for the job of Bar and Restaurant Staff advertised in this week´s issue of "The Sun".

As you will see from my curriculum vitae I have a grat deal of experience related to restaurant staff. Therefore, I am expert on clutery, stiff and soft drinks, cooking international food, desserts and one of my major abilities are leadership qualities. It would be very challenging for me to work in an English speaking country because I have just graduated from the advanced level in English speaking and I would like to improve my oral skills fluently.

My interest include salad bars, kidney pies, flavoury stew and tasty desserts. I have worked at an international resort since I was doing my English course , as the head waitress in charge of running the whole restuarant in there.

I am very flexible, tolerant and easy going to form part of a team. Herewith I enclose a reference letter from my previous employer and I would be able to work at Coastal Campsites from now on. By the way, how many hours do I have to work? and how long is the contract for?

As I meet the qualifications I look forward to receiving a promt reply.

Best Regards,

katia carrasco

June 10 Assignment

Laura Gallo was born in "Chuquicamata"(a city up north Santiago) in the tear 1914 and died in September, year 2005 in Santiago.

She had 7 sisters besides her. Unfortunately they all had just passed away before Laura´s death. Laura had been a hard working woman since her early teens. She worked for a mining company and her duty was to enclose the salary of the workers, at Chuquicamata open pite mine, in cash.

She got married to Juan Orrego, a lovely man. When her 2 older daughters were grown up, they decided to move to another city(Concepcion) so as to find a better educational opportunity for both of them.

Then, Juan Orrego retired from work, all the family moved to Santiago and once here he suffered a heart attack.....Therefore Laura became an atheist because she never forgot God for taking away her beloved husband.

Laura was not diabetic even though she ate a lot of sweeties. I used to spend my whole afternoons with her. She never took any medicine just did household medicines to relieve from any pain of the cancer illness she had been suffering before dying. She took the bad with the good of her illness. Now she is resting in peace under the shadow of an "Ibisco Tree "at the flowery countriside near Santiago.

opinion about "Angels and Demons"

I´am a person who believes in God deeply but I don´t follow the Catholic rites like going to Mass every Sunday.......This film is dense, it is an intense drama but it is very interesting to know a little more about Catholic religion.
"Angels and Demons" is not a great film but It is a good one. It moves at breakneck pace and heads up to intrigue and enlighten with a tangled plot set in an equally impermeable scene of Roman Catholic rite, laws and traditions.
The film itself shows the ultimate suspension of disbelief. On the other hand, It has an excellent photographic memory of what it is Roman Catholicism or Vatican operations. I liked seeing the film though it lasted two hours and a half.

Movie Review "Angels and Demons"

Langdon is called to Rome to investigate a plot to murder four Preferitti, priests under consideration to replace the recently deceased Pope. A scientist has been murdered in a secure facility in Geneva, where anti-matter is pruduced, his chest is branded with a symbol of the Illuminati, a mysterious catholic splinter group that murdered its way to power and was driven underground 400 years earlier. A tiny amount of highly volatile substance is missing, enough to destroy a city like the Vatican. The good guys have just 24 hours to stop them and save the priests......and save the faith....

Langdon is joined by a colleague of the murdered scientist played by Azelet Zurer. She had a hand in developing anti-matter and knows its power to destroy.

Langdon (the main character) is also befriended by a young priest (Ewan Mcgregor), a Vatican favourite, one of the few to venture into the modern technological world.
