September 15, 2009. "Chain Stories"

As I carefully entered the haunted house, the door shut behind me and I started to feel that I was in an unknown situation which was terrifying me in such a way I couldn't explain to anybody there in that horrendous day I had there. It was a heavy atmosphere so I was not breathing properly but I had the need of going to the bathroom that was upstairs. As I rushed through the stairs I saw two ghosts behind me so they began calling my name, luodly:

-Are you katie? I bet you are!!!

-No, I' m not so I said to them I'am katia...You have been mistaken me for another person............

At that precise moment, the ghost sang an ancient song and I recognized the melody straight away and without realizing it I hummed the tune. I was hearing it very pleased...

Wednesday, September 2009 "Writing Assignment 3 : Composition

I strongly believe that the best way to travel in Santiago(capital city of Chile) is by underground, because you spend few time to arrive to your destination point, when it is not peak hour which means a lot of traffic jumps when all the citizens use the same vehicle of trasportation to get anywhere they want to.

Firstly, It is clean, fast, comfortable, you can do other activities while you are travelling in it, like reading a magazine or a newspaper, talking on the cel phone, knitting a new sweater, listening to the music, studying for a coming test. As a result, you save time using this transport so then you can organize a given day with different activities as, going for a walk with a friend, clubbing, going to the cinema or do errands you did not have time to do when using another transport except the underground (metro for chileans).

Another benefit is that does not pollute the city, so we are not having a bad air to breathe deeply. It covers large distances from the top to the bottom of Santiago, and in every subway station you have mini buses to connect to get to further places within an area.

Finally, the chilean goverment is investing a lot of money in order to improve the metro in Santiago, and they are building new lines and modern metro stations where old and phisically handicapped people can use the subway in the capital city without any problem for them because some stations have lifts and mechanic stairs to make easier its use.

Travel "Positive and Negative Effects of Tourism"

"Positive and Negative Effects of Tourism"

Tourism is a very nice area where you can work on a free schedule, at the same time you get to know different cultures and people which can make you improve your oral skills in English Language but the most important about this activity is the advantage of travelling at the lowest fare.
When Tourists come over Santiago(capital city) most of the time they are easily recognized because they are carrying digital cameras wherever they go but what surprises me is the fact of an increasing pollution, rubbish, lots of traffic jumps, and long queues in the shops or restaurants they stop by.
The positive aspect is that they spend money here, lodging in hotels and renting cars so It improves our economy.
  • Yes; I do agree with the writer's opinion, I think of it as a nonsense when you go to far away pace and you are back in less than two weeks becuase you do not really know the culture, customs, language and people itself, It is a fake travel since It is not real.

"The city of Slights"

1.- What place had she wanted to see in Europe?

2.- What is her opinion about the metro in Paris?

3.- Where did they accomodate in Paris?

4.- What were her children doing on the Eiffel' s Tower Top?

5.- What kind of building is "The Sacre Coeur?

Comparing the two places in this blog I would rather prefer to go to Paris (The city of Slights) instead of going to Belize and exploring caves in there. Firstly, I' am not good at experimenting adventurous trips because It involves different types of risks that I don`t want to take. Thus, I would be pretty happy staying in Paris, which is a lively and cultural city where some artists show their art works.

WRITTING Assignment 2 "The advantages and disadvantages of living in the city or countryside"

I am going to start pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of living in the city or countryside. One of the major advantages of living in the city are the number of jobs available and the commute to those jobs together with the convenience of public transportation because the citizens have better transport facilities than the people in the countryside have. Villagers need to drive a car to get some canned food because shops are far away from their homes but they always get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits.

Living in the city is fun because there is always something of excitement going on and there are many places in which you can meet with your friends. However, in the countryside you have more friends since It is small, they live in unity and peace and the air is fresh, full of geen hills so the scenery is so calm and beautiful though in the city it is noisy and busy, leading to a bit of stress.

Therefore when you live in the city you keep up with new developments in your profession as well as there are more opportunities for people to progress in their lives and they have more chances for making money.

Coosing where to live depends on your personal preferences, status in life, marital status, and your goals in life.

Do you prefer living in the city or country?

I am a city mouse so I do prefer living in the city because I was born in the city town so It is by custom to like a crowded city where everybody is in a hurry. The good thing about it is that I have lot more opportunities living here, concernig health, work, entartainment, choosing among a variety of different places without looking at the same people wherever I go.
